I am currently in training for my second half-marathon. I can’t believe I just typed that sentence. I never thought that I would be able to say that I ran one-half marathon, and here I am training for my second. In 3 weeks, my close friend Alexa and I will be heading to Columbus, OH for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Half Marathon to complete 13.1 miles for the second time within 13 months.
Last year, our goal was to finish the race without stopping. This year our goal is a lot bigger than that!
The Nationwide Children’s Hospital Marathon and Half Marathon is named one of the most meaningful marathons in the country. Each mile is dedicated to patients of the Children’s Hospital, and one of the patients will be at each mile to cheer on the runners. How inspiring is that?! Alexa and I are blown away that these kids will be out there supporting us each mile of the race, so we wanted to return the favor. We recently became Children’s Champions in hopes to raise $1,000 for the children that are cared for at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. If you would like to help us reach our goal, please visit our fundraising page to donate. No donation is too small. If you can’t donate, then I challenge you to go out do something today in honor of the kids because so many children like the ones we are running for in 3 weeks are fighting hard battles each and every day and deserve our support. Every step counts.
On October 18th, at 7:30am Alexa and I will begin the race with all the patients at Nationwide Children’s Hospital on our minds. They are our motivation. We proved to ourselves last year that we could complete 13.1, something we thought we could never do, and now this year we will fight to finish the race in less than 2 hours in honor of the patients.
